Laboratory Technician


UNIQUE Paving Materials is an industry leader in pavement maintenance products manufactured nationwide.  We are seeking a LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (non-medical) in our Lab Operations at our manufacturing facility on the east side of Cleveland, OH.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collect, log, and process raw material and final product samples using defined testing procedures.
  • Read, understand and be able to independently execute test methods used to analyze aggregate samples, mix samples, emulsions, fuels and asphalt.
  • Gather, compare, and transmit test results to production department.
  • Maintain and clean all lab equipment and apparatus.
  • Maintain, recycle, and replace the storage of samples.
  • Observe and participate in all safety programs.  Adhere to all safety rules and regulations and properly use all personal protective equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED required.  1-2 years of college in a science major preferred; chemistry major strongly preferred. 
  • 2-3 years of experience in a chemical lab environment preferred.
  • Will consider a combination of education and experience.
  • General understanding of measures (viscosity, density, etc.).
  • Knowledge of physical terms and ability to use/convert metric to U.S. systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
  • Strong basic math aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to understand and implement test methods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pound product samples (hot and cold) and to retrieve samples from tanks and trucks.
  • Ability to use office equipment (copiers, scanners).
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the company’s insurance provider.

Laboratory Administrator


UNIQUE Paving Materials is an industry leader in pavement maintenance products manufactured nationwide.  We are seeking a LABORATORY ADMINISTRATOR (non-medical) in our Lab Operations at our manufacturing facility on the east side of Cleveland, OH.

Position Responsibilities:

The Laboratory Administrator will process and enter test information into a variety of laboratory databases and generate final reports. This position also provides administrative support to the laboratory director and performs tests in the lab as requested.

  • Review and enter all test results into laboratory database.
  • Analyze test results, perform required calculations and modeling.
  • Accurately process, complete and distribute final reports on laboratory samples.
  • Complete forms for samples received and log all samples in logbooks.
  • Maintain and replace stored samples; recycle samples as appropriate.
  • Prepare and send aggregate samples to sales team.
  • Provide administrative support to the lab director.
  • Perform laboratory tests using defined testing procedures. Maintain and clean lab equipment.

Account Executive – West Central

Position Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability for strategic planning and territory development.
  • Sell our complete line of products to help achieve personal and company growth and profitability year round.
  • Make sales calls to state, county, municipal agencies and large construction companies.
  • Attend various local and national trade shows and events.
  • Perform quality control testing at product manufacturing sites.
  • Detail-oriented approach and use of your organizational and time management skills.
  • Perform product demonstrations.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook & creating and delivering effective PowerPoint presentations.
  • Documentation of sales efforts in a CRM database.

CDL-A Driver


UNIQUE PAVING MATERIALS is looking for a qualified CDL-A Driver who resides close to the Cleveland OH area to transport our product and equipment with the high level of service that our customers expect. 

The main responsibility of the CDL-A Driver is to transport and operate equipment used in making asphalt products at various locations as needed. Qualified candidates will have:

  • A valid CDL Class A license
  • Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements with TWIC card preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Prior over the road experience (preferably a minimum of 2 years)
  • A solid driving record and insurable through the company’s insurance provider
  • Front-end loader and fork-lift experience a plus

Further, this position requires:

  • Extensive overnight travel during peak season (approximately 50% during a month)
  • Punctuality is critical
  • The willingness to work on short notice and be available via cell phone
  • The ability to perform mathematical calculations and solve problems
  • Professional communication with customers, vendors, and employees
  • A high degree of integrity; especially regarding safety and DOT compliance
  • The ability to lift and carry samples, products, and equipment (25-70 lbs.)
  • The ability to climb ladders and platforms to operate equipment
  • Detailed oversight of his or her own employee expense reporting

CDL experience is required with the Company providing extensive equipment and product-specific training.
