The Eco-Friendly Asphalt Sealer Used by Professionals
Field trials throughout the U.S. has resulted in recommending non-coal tar-based sealers as the preferred choice for asphalt applications. Several agencies have regulations in place that ban the use of coal tar products because coal tar-based sealers may pollute our air and groundwater.
Coal tar sealers contain Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are carcinogenic. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) believes it’s possible that coal tar sealers containing PAHs may enter water sewage systems in stormwater runoff as they deteriorate.
As a result, PAHs could cause groundwater pollution and threaten humans and the environment. The EPA encourages states to ban coal tar sealers and adopt the use of eco-friendly asphalt sealers instead. Further studies indicate that dust from these sealers can become airborne and pollute the surrounding areas with PAHs.
Unlike coal tar-based sealers, INTEGRA-SEAL® asphalt sealer emits no noxious odors and does not contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It is an eco-friendly pavement sealer option to protect asphalt roads, parking lots and driveways.

To properly sealcoat your driveway before applying our eco-friendly asphalt sealer, clean your surface with water and a stiff broom. Rinse and let it dry completely.

Pre-treat oil stains with UNIQUE’s KWIK-LOK® pavement primer. Apply a liberal coating of INTEGRA-SEAL® asphalt sealer to your driveway or pavement.
3.
Squeegee the excess material with even pressure to spread the sealer over the remaining unsealed surface.
